Darwin’s Racism Came Out in “Descent of Man”

Here are some examples of Darwin’s writings in “Descent of Man”. By linking man with apes via his so-called theory of “evolution” and his central thesis of “common descent” he starts to put the “savages” and “negros” beneath “civilized man” on the supposed transition from ape to man. Savages as intermediate states between people and apes: “It has been asserted that the ear of man alone possesses a lobule; but ‘a rudiment of it is found in the gorilla’ and, as I hear from Prof. Preyer, it is not rarely absent in the negro. “The sense of smell is of the highest importance to the greater number of mammals–to some, as the ruminants, in warning them of danger; to others, as the Carnivora, in finding their prey; to others, again, as the wild boar, for both purposes combined. But the sense of smell is of extremely slight service, if any, even to the dark coloured races of men, in whom it is much more highly developed than in the white and civilised races.” “The account given by Humboldt of the power of smell possessed by the natives of South America is well known, and has been confirmed by others. Jesus never taught his disciples to conquer their enemies, but rather to bless them. Now we have supposed Christians arming themselves to the teeth in order to protect themselves from the rising antichristian sentiment in the US and the West. Jesus taught that we need not fear those that can only kill the body, but not the soul. Rather to fear Him who can do both, we should fear Him! Democracy will only work as long as the voting majority respects the laws of God Almighty. The breakdown of this has been rather precipitous of late but the roots of rebellion against the Creator have been there all along. We say…
