Connections

Some time in our lives we all get to thinking about how we got here. Science is stuck in an atheistic knothole and that kind of puts it out in left field when it comes to the realities of life. And at the other end of the spectrum of conjecture, there’s the UFO/paranormal crowd that has a complete mishmash of guesses about things.

Both of these extremes are distractions from coming to grips with our real situation. Both have trouble embracing the simple story of our lives. We are all here by deliberate design! The Designer is watching each of us with deep interest. He’s not a “force”, nor an alien being, but someone who knows us personally and wants us to know Him.

As with any relationship, the beginning of a friendship is respect. That means we must lay aside our prejudices and lame ideas about who He is. The Creator put us here, that’s a good place to start. This Creator also gave us a record of His dealing with men and women of the past. That book is there for us to read and learn, the Bible.

The Bible is a record of 2 great contracts between the Creator and mankind. The first contract was established in order to teach us about the severity of sin and rebellion. It also teaches about atonement or about the way to reestablish a broken relationship with our Creator. As herdsman, the Jews were able to learn that by sacrificing the best of their flocks as burnt offerings, they could receive forgiveness for past injustices. A temporary means of restoring their friendship with their Creator, their connection.

The first contract looks forward to a better one when the Creator Himself would be the sacrifice. “The Lamb of God” who would come to take away the sins of the world. A much better contract cause all we need to do is respect Him and the sacrifice He made as Jesus. Now, we can receive His gift of forgiveness and a restored friendship with Him. All we have to do is respect who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

Jesus was the “Lamb of God”, and was able to allow his death and also restore his own life and position as “Allmighty” “Father”. Jesus is the only “priest” we need to restore our connection with our “Creator”. This is the way things are. Hope that all who read this will make the right choice and enjoy this greatest opportunity to connect with the greatest Person!
